Elaine Anderson

Elaine studied Conservation and Ecological Management at Edinburgh University which lead to a career in the charity sector. She worked on a project promoting sustainable forest management using native Scot’s pine in the recreation and construction sectors. During that time, she became more interested in ecological consultancy and worked towards gaining her bat licence. She now works in the ecological consultancy sector in the UK, with a particular interest in bat survey and mitigation.

Elaine takes a holistic approach to conservation matters, is dedicated to finding solutions to conservation issues and has a particular passion for helping people from all backgrounds to fall in love with wildlife and the environment. She loves travelling and in 2008 she led a student research expedition to Nepal where the team of Scottish and Nepalese students worked with local communities and rangers in Langtang National Park to form solutions to issues regarding human-wildlife conflict. She is the treasurer and a board member for
Bats without Borders helping to coordinate fundraising activities and to promote its work.
